Meeting Beenie Man

Friday, July 31st, 2009 | Author: JC

I’ve met a few Jamaican celebrities in my travels even though I have no proof of meeting any of them LOL.

In 2003 (my first trip) I got to be up close and personal with Sean Paul in the VIP tent at one of his shows. The reason is because I won this trip specifically to see this show. Eventhough I’m not a big fan of his by any means, he was cool and friendly. We had a few laughs about snow in Canada and that was it. Didn’t take any pictures.

On my way to Jamaica for the Sean Paul concert we stopped off in Toronto and picked up Canadian reggae artists Snow (Informer) and he flew to Jamaica with us and stayed at the same resort as us. It was kinda neat even though I’m not a huge fan of his neither. I do have plenty of video footage of Snow, but its not digital so couldn’t post it.

At the concert I met Lennox Lewis!!! In my opinion he was WAAAY more worthy then the others put together!!! I’m a HUGE boxing fan and have always been a Lennox fan!! I tried snapping a pic of him but his entourage was all over me in mere seconds LOL!! So that didn’t work out. But he stood beside me for the entire show.

Probably the most famous Jamaican celebrity I’ve met is Beenie Man, but I don’t like him either. This meeting happened only a few months ago at Club Amnesia in Ocho Rios. He was just there hanging out. I could care less about meeting him but I thought a picture would be cool to prove finally that I’ve met someone famous. So my friend and I asked another Jamaican to take a picture of us with him and SADLY the result is posted below.

That’s right folks, all I have for proof is a picture of two drunk Canadian girls and Beenie Man’s mouth. I swear I wanted to chop the man who took this picture LMAO!!

I’m pretty sure I’m NOT meant to meet famous people and be able to tell about it. However….if I EVER get the opportunity to meet Elephant Man or Vybz Kartel I will be alllll over that one with pictures, video, the clothes off their backs, etc. LOL.

Funny Signs in Jamaica

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009 | Author: JC

I couldn’t think of a better post to make after all the downtime with the blog, than to make you all laugh.  These are just random funny signs seen around Jamaica.  If you ever visit, keep your eyes peeled for hilarious signs.

This first one is self explanatory.

curried goat

This next one is cute.  For those who aren’t familiar with the accent….dutty means dirty.

This one is just hilarious!  The age on the sign is tiny but it says 75 LOL.

The next one might be controversial but its funny for a couple reasons.  First you have to know most Jamaicans aren’t fond of the gay lifestyle and they call a gay man “chi chi man”.  So “bunn chi chi man” just means down with them, or away with them (to speak politely).  This sign is hilarious to me because that whole chi chi man thing really has nothing to do with anything else on the sign LOL.

And last but not least, for this installment of funny signs….the machete billboard!  Machete’s are a common tool in Jamaica.  Notice the last bullet on the sign….battyman also refers to gay men.  I’m not sure if this is one of those photoshopped internet things or not though, I didn’t take this photo.
