Fish is super popular in Jamaica, especially among those who aren’t real meat eaters. You can find steamed fish on almost any menu in any cook shop there, and its real grass roots cooking when you order fish. They start with….you guessed it….a whole fish.
One thing that amazes me when my friends cook for me in Jamaica, is the amount of flavor in every dish without excessive use of salt LOL! Back home I salt literally everything to make it taste better, but in Jamaica I don’t...

Turtle Park in Ocho Rios is one of the most beautiful and quiet places to hang out. It’s located right in the heart of Ocho Rios near plenty of shops and hotels, and is beautifully maintained.
Because of its central location it’s a great meeting spot. It has plenty of benches to sit and relax, as well as wooden gazebos with seats inside if you’re looking for some shade. The trees in the park are huge and by experience I know they offer good protection from the rain….I’ve...

Okay honestly this is the most unexpected discovery I’ve made in Jamaica! I had no idea anyone attempted skateboarding there! I have heard there’s a rollerskating arena somewhere but not skateboarding. One of my friends in JA last year told me he’d seen it on TV and would like to try.
Last month I went to Boston Bay, in Portland, for the first time and I’ll be damned if I didn’t discover this primitive, YET functioning skate park! Complete with one ramp and a...

This post is near and dear to my heart considering how it all came about. I have to give you a little bit of background so you’ll understand how it happened and why its such a great memory, and why Down South will always be a place I stop when I hit the island!
Down South Restaurant, Falmouth.
History – Myself and a handful of women have been members of a couple Jamaican chat forums for the last 5 years, most recently my own forum, JAMAICA OUR WAY. We have been online friends and...

I FINALLY got a chance to visit Jamaica’s east coast, which I’ve been wanting to do for the last few years. I got to several spots in Portland but this post will cover the marina. What a beautiful place to just hang out and chill!
The whole property surrounding the marina was so beautiful….very well manicured with a nice pathway and a huge dock. I was impressed!
The day I went there were PLENTY of kids out and about here. A whole field full of them playing soccer and about...

I absolutely HAD to post this video we took a couple weeks ago. We were coming down a winding mountain road from Claremont to St Ann’s Bay when we came upon this dude riding his bike down.
Wondering if he missed the memo on bike safety, helmets, speed kills, etc? If you look at the trees on the side you can see how FAST we’re moving and he was in the lead LOL!! Going down looks great but I can’t imagine coming back up.
WICKED!!! I love Jamaicans!!!
