Welcome to MY way of doing Jamaica!

The point of this blog is to tell you how I’ve “done” Jamaica over the years.

That means you won’t find any all-inclusive information and there will be no sun tanning stories. That’s BORING!!!

You will find out about how to get around for less, stay for less, see more, meet Jamaican people, experience Jamaican culture, and eat the best food.

Check out the category links on the side….. or visit:

Montego Bay

Negril

Ocho Rios

Lucea

Spanish Town

Portland

More locations soon to come

Buckle up. You REALLY should be on a plane to Jamaica right now!

  1. Hey Jamaica. First off, I love your pic. Are you shaking it or what? (smile) It’s great.

    See ya soon.

  2. Great site, particularly love the sunset pics. It’s wonderful to find out about other places from individuals who really know them rather than travel companies just trying to sell them.

  3. Thanks Sally! Glad you like it.

  4. Thanks for commenting on my blog! Sadly ive never been to Lucea… I’ve only been to Negril Montego Bay and Ochi. A shame! a Jamaican who doesn’t know her own country. I like yout site really nice

Keep up the good work man! will be reading!

  5. I find that interesting how many Jamaicans I’ve met inna yard who have never been to other towns on the island. But then again, I’m Canadian and people think its strange I’ve never been to Toronto!

  6. I am laughing because so many people think I am writing from Jamaica, but actually I am writing from Brooklyn N.Y. …but will get back one day..

Bring me back some Ackee and Saltfish mon and some breadfruit…onelove

  7. Ciao!
Glad to be here with you!
Would like to breath this air through your blog since my journey to Jamaica is still not ready …(who knows when, it’s a long time that I think about jamaica but still my dream has not come true).
I perfectly agree with you when you say “I’m still alive”! Any place in the world can be dangerous or not, every place in the world can have positive and negative. I think that when you are called by a place you have to follow the invitation and the voice of your heart, the same happens to me with Tanzania…
    ciao from Rome

  8. That was very nice of you Francesca, thank you. I love what you said about “when you are called to a place you have to follow”. I agree and I have never regretted it.

Thanks for visiting, I hope you make it to Jamaica!

Hi Jamaica, I am the yahoo answers user that wanted information regarding the pinapple guetto in Ochi. I was supposed to go running 3 hours ago but I checked my email and saw your response and you blog and I think I have read it all. I was dissapointed that there was no information regarding your experience in Spanish town. I would love to keep in touch with you and share our experiences in Jamaica. I am planning on going back for three weeks on the 1st of july, this time as a proper backpacker and really try to learn a bit of patois. If you skype, my user name is pamposa.
Your blog thas been the best thing I have found of Jamaica, and I havent been able to think about anything else since my first trip. Masisve congratulations for it. Right…going joggin now… LOL

  10. Hi! Thanks for reading!!!! Yea I just got back a week ago and haven’t yet posted about my time in Spanish Town since it just happened. It takes me so long to organize my thoughts and pictures when I return from a trip.

Thanks so much for the comments on my blog. I have LOTS more coming since I just got back from 2 weeks down there. Stay tuned!! And I’m JEALOUS you’re going back in July LOL. I think I’m waiting til November…..I’m broke.

  11. Great,

Hi there: You write with great sensitivity to the people and social conditions that you find in Jamaica. It comes through loud and clear. I note that the pics of the conditions in Spanish Town were next to the pics of Oniel’s house – that way you don’t leave the impression that all housing is like the “ghetto” conditions. I recently discovered your sites and blogs. Have just retired and now can spend 2 of the winter months in Ja. Am leaving end of Jan ’til end of March. Hmmmm……

Hi Jamaica: I admire your sense of adventure to want to live in Ja. Just a word of caution…..Make sure that your finances are well organized and secure as it is a tuff, tuff place to be without an income. I know this from experience. ( You may wish to delete this post as it is a bit of a downher) LOL.

  16. LOL no its not a downer!!! It’s real life! And I totally agree with you! That’s why careful planning is involved and there’s no deadline on my leaving. I’ll go when I’m ready for sure…..I have a lot to consider.

    Thanks for reading!!

  17. Retired….that’s great! You deserve to spend your retirement in any way you feel! I’ve also adjusted my plans for living there and decided I will spend enough time in Canada each year to maintain my health care and things like that. It’s the smartest way to go I think. Plus I have family here so I would like to spend the summer months (nice weather LOL) at home with them.
