Ocho Rios School
I couldn’t resist hanging around this school since it’s right beside Little Shaw Park guest house, where I’ve stayed a few times. Every morning at the guest house I wake up to the sound of singing or playing children. Unfortunately we weren’t allowed inside the gates to tour the inside of the school during class time so here are the shots I got of the school exterior.

Lazy Dayz – Negril, Jamaica
I stayed at Lazy Dayz in Negril in 2004, on my third trip to Jamaica. This was the trip I brought my son on when he was 11 years old. The fun of that trip is posted here. And since this trip was 5 years ago, my info might not be totally current. You should see their website for the most current rates, etc.
There are several different types of cabins at Lazy Dayz in Negril, and I chose to rent the two smallest ones, one for myself and one for my son. The two...

Mama’s House
I “actually” met my second Mama on my birthday in 2006. I “cyber-met” her long before that on a Jamaican travel forum. When we started chatting about 5 years ago she didn’t yet live in Jamaica, but finally she made her move and the timing was perfect for me to visit her.
I flew into Jamaica on my birthday in 2006 and Mama met me at the airport for the first time! It was hilarious to finally meet her and seemed like we’d known each other...

Hang with locals
I called this post “part 1″ in case any of the other crazy things I’ve done pop into my mind. I’ll be sure to post them if they do. But for now I can think of one or two ways to meet Jamaican locals that stand out in my head. Being a white female doesn’t hurt but I’m not going to focus on that because it will perpetuate stereotypes.
I see a lot of people have searched “meet Jamaican locals” and stumbled on to my blog so I thought...

YES take your kids to Jamaica!
In April 2004, my son Curtis was 11 and I was taking him with me. My mission: To convince a city-slicking kid that Disneyland is NOT the only vacation on the planet! The tools I had to complete my mission: 2 tickets to Jamaica and an extremely limited budget. Let me tell you he was kinda miserable about it before we got there. He stayed up the whole night before departure downloading music for his mp3 player so he would “have something to do” there.
Curtis...

Cell Phones in Jamaica
I’m doing this post for a friend of mine who I know through a Jamaican chat forum. It might help her business and it will definitely help you if you plan to rent a cell phone in Jamaica.
Jodi and Oniel Daley run a cell phone rental business out of Negril, called Rentacell Negril, and make it really convenient for anyone to have their own phone while on vacation in Jamaica. All phones are delivered and picked up for FREE to you and have pre-assigned phone numbers...

Living in Llandillo
**Disclaimer** I regret that the trip in this post is about a year before I owned a digital camera and I hardly have any pictures that were worth using Kind of crappy pics and definitely a lack of them too. Sorry!
On my second trip to Jamaica back in 2003 I had made arrangements to stay at the home of a Jamaican police officer in Llandillo Phase 1, Savanna La Mar, in the parish of Westmoreland. Not as glamorous as it sounds LOL.
Me & police officer Adrian in Falmouth,...
