Here’s a cute little video I made of the footage from my raft ride. I’ve posted about WHITE RIVER before but never included video. It gives you a nice idea of how relaxing and amusing this 45 minute ride is. And the scenery is so beautiful. I put the video to the DNA riddim for your entertainment.
Way back in May 2003 on my second trip to Jamaica I saw the strangest sign I’d ever read. It said “Caution – Sleeping Policeman Ahead”. The ironic part is that I was driving in a car with a Jamaican police man so of course I blurted out “why the hell is there a sign warning of a sleeping police man ahead???” Sleeping Policeman sign in Jamaica Of course he laughed at me and proceeded to explain to me what sleeping police actually are. In Jamaica that’s what...
Mammee Bay Beach & Fisherman Beach Submitted by Reeva-Ann Proctor There are two “hidden spots” in Mammee Bay (near Drax Hall, St. Ann). If you go next to either the Ocho Rios Riu or the Sandals in Mammee Bay there are some hidden beaches with lots of little shops with crafts, shirts, food, whatever you need. Beach in Mammee Bay First I will mention the place next to the the RIU. I wouldn’t say its hidden because if you stay at the RIU its right next to the hotel. There is...
This was my first impression of Treasure Beach on the south coast of Jamaica. I was invited down there to spend some time with some of my friends who were also on the island the same time as me and they were staying at this most awesome villa in Treasure Beach!! View from a bedroom at Sparkling Waters villa I got a ride down to Treasure Beach from Mandeville which only took about 45 minutes. My first impression of this little town was “peace and quiet”. As we drove the long road along...
James Bond beach is in the parish of St Mary on Jamaica’s north coast. It was definitely worth the trip to go see it and the drive was just as beautiful. It’s only about 20 minutes from Ocho Rios and the drive is ALL coast. You follow the seaside to Oracabessa and you’re there! Entrance to James Bond beach So I shouldn’t make it sound so easy to find because we drove right past the sign and ended up in Port Maria, which wasn’t so bad because it just added time onto...
Dead End beach in Montego Bay has always been one of my favorite places to hang out. If you’re ever flown into Mobay it’s guaranteed you’ve seen it because your plane was practically touching the sand there when you landed. Check out my post about Landing In Montego Bay and watch the video on that page, you’ll see the beach as the plane is coming in. Looking out to Dead End beach from the bar There’s a bar at Dead End beach which is located pretty much at the dead...
