I highly doubt anyone would EVER ask this question about Jamaica but you never know! And the answer is YES!
The greatest thing in Jamaica is that even if you go completely alone it only takes about 5 minutes to make a friend. This day I wasn’t alone but I sure made at least ten new friends and I didn’t even have to move. I sat in the same chair for 5 hours and had the greatest day!
A man who’s name I won’t mention because of the ganja pulled up a chair beside me this afternoon...

Try to look beyond the constant bad press. If you use common sense, respect and the same street wise attitude you would in any major city, Kingston can be one of the most rewarding visits to be had in Jamaica.
The ‘Blue Mountains’ are another real experience. Take a public bus from Papine, be prepared for a long wait…. sometimes a long, long wait until the bus is full. Lots of little rum shacks, Friday night town square sound systems, dead yard parties (a wake...

I’m doing this post as a follow-up to my original post about cell phones in Jamaica. CLICK HERE to read that one.
Over time I learn new things and need to update the old info I’ve posted. I always assume people know everything but then I get new members on my forum asking about it.
As I mentioned in the old post, if you’re a frequent traveler to Jamaica the most economical choice for communicating there is just to buy a Jamaican cell phone. You can get a bottom of the line Digicel...

Here’s a cute little video I made of the footage from my raft ride. I’ve posted about WHITE RIVER before but never included video. It gives you a nice idea of how relaxing and amusing this 45 minute ride is. And the scenery is so beautiful. I put the video to the DNA riddim for your entertainment.

This was my first official day in Mandeville, Jamaica. It was a strange day and a spur of the moment plan but it turned out to be a fun day….and quite the group of people to hang out with!
Group shot in the basement of a bar.
I was staying with a friend for a few nights up in Mandeville and he owns a bar just outside of town. He decided to take me there in the middle of the day on a Sunday, Mother’s day…I guess that’s not odd considering any time is a good time to party...

Way back in May 2003 on my second trip to Jamaica I saw the strangest sign I’d ever read. It said “Caution – Sleeping Policeman Ahead”. The ironic part is that I was driving in a car with a Jamaican police man so of course I blurted out “why the hell is there a sign warning of a sleeping police man ahead???”

Of course he laughed at me and proceeded to explain to me what sleeping police actually are. In Jamaica that’s what...

Mammee Bay Beach & Fisherman Beach
Submitted by Reeva-Ann Proctor
There are two “hidden spots” in Mammee Bay (near Drax Hall, St. Ann). If you go next to either the Ocho Rios Riu or the Sandals in Mammee Bay there are some hidden beaches with lots of little shops with crafts, shirts, food, whatever you need.
Beach in Mammee Bay
First I will mention the place next to the the RIU. I wouldn’t say its hidden because if you stay at the RIU its right next to the hotel. There is...
