Way back in May 2003 on my second trip to Jamaica I saw the strangest sign I’d ever read. It said “Caution – Sleeping Policeman Ahead”. The ironic part is that I was driving in a car with a Jamaican police man so of course I blurted out “why the hell is there a sign warning of a sleeping police man ahead???” Sleeping Policeman sign in Jamaica Of course he laughed at me and proceeded to explain to me what sleeping police actually are. In Jamaica that’s what...

There are NO good reasons why I’m posting this!  I just wanted to show you the nastiest display of spiders I’ve ever seen in my life!  For those of you who’ve traveled to Africa or Australia you’ll probably laugh at these ones.  But back home in Canada I’ve never seen the likes of Banana spiders! Single banana spider in Jamaica Okay so that’s a banana spider, no biggy even though it’s leg span was pretty much like a child’s hand.  But the next picture...

We have a next photo contest winner! The theme for the contest was “Children in Jamaica” and this photo won by most votes. It was submitted by Shiquita Woodyard. She took this photo of her son Elijah on Christmas eve (believe it or not!), at Hellshire beach in Portmore, Jamaica. Beautiful picture Shiquita! Congratulations again! And everyone stay tuned for more photo contest opportunities coming up in March!

We have a new winner of the “Fishing in Jamaica” photo contest.  What a beautiful picture!  It was entered by Theresa Majich Goodell. Here’s what she had to say about the origination of this photo: “The photo was taken in December 2006 at the beautiful white, sandy beach of Long Bay in Portland, Jamaica. Just next door were Yahimba Beach Cottages, the cutest little cottages. But Hurricane Dean in 2007 had something to say about it, destroying the cottages & ravaging...

Alright we have another winner! The theme for our photo contest that just ended was RED STRIPE and the winner by most votes, was Mary Croteau again! Someone’s gotta give this lady a run for her money sometime! This was her STUNNING shot featuring Red Stripe, taken at Lover’s Leap on Jamaica’s south coast. Amazing!! If you’d like to enter any of the Jamaica My Way photo contests, scroll down on the right sidebar and join the Facebook fan group by clicking the link. Red...

This is another repost from the ones I lost in June and I thought it was quite fitting to post it now because I’ll be waving at Jamaica in 2 days!!!  Waving HELLO that is! Waves against the rocks on Jamaica's north coast. I can never get enough of watching the sea that surrounds Jamaica.  Its funny how we take things for granted because I can see the amazing Rocky Mountains where I live any day.  And even though millions of tourists come here to see them, I would much rather see the...

Just wanted to inform you all of my first photo contest winner today! She had the most votes in our theme contest of “Jamaican People”. And here’s her gorgeous photo!! And here’s the caption the winner wanted to include: “There is so much to do in Jamaica, but some times there is much fun to be had by doing the mundane. It had been a while since my friend’s hair had been twisted; the new growth was fuzzing up around his roots so we decided that the day would...
