Here’s a cute little video I made of the footage from my raft ride. I’ve posted about WHITE RIVER before but never included video. It gives you a nice idea of how relaxing and amusing this 45 minute ride is. And the scenery is so beautiful. I put the video to the DNA riddim for your entertainment.

Okay so I’ve posted about this before, but I confess the last time I posted I didn’t actually DO the rafting! CLICK HERE to read the first post I did, but continue reading if you want to see how great is really is! The pictures in the last post were ones that I found on the internet. These next ones are pictures I took of my experience! White River is only about a 15 minute car ride from the centre of Ocho Rios, don’t pay a charter taxi more than $800 JMD to get there or call...

Hey everyone! I’m back! And I just had to post this while it’s still relevant since the Olympics just ended. Everyone knows that hockey is a religion in Canada so I needed to find a place to watch the gold medal game while in Jamaica. Watching Olympic hockey at Fishermans bar in Ocho Rios This was so fun because I had met up with my girls at this little bar at fisherman’s beach in Ocho Rios. Three of us are Canadian and one is American and we all managed to force the bar owner...

Okay honestly this is the most unexpected discovery I’ve made in Jamaica!  I had no idea anyone attempted skateboarding there!  I have heard there’s a rollerskating arena somewhere but not skateboarding.  One of my friends in JA last year told me he’d seen it on TV and would like to try. Last month I went to Boston Bay, in Portland, for the first time and I’ll be damned if I didn’t discover this primitive, YET functioning skate park!  Complete with one ramp and a...

I’ve been going through my mind to collect the posts I lost and this one needs to be reposted. I had a lot of response to it and its a beautiful beach! Much nicer than the public beach you’ll find right in Ochi. And ironically, this much better beach is FREE…the public beach right in town is $200 JMD for murky water and muddy sand. Mahogany Beach, Ocho Rios If you’re staying right in town Mahogany beach is much more of a hike than the public beach but definitely worth it....

Jamaica Billiards So not only can you swim in pools in Jamaica, you can play pool too! There are PLENTY places to play and it seems I hit at least one each trip. Playing Pool in Ocho Rios Not far up Milford Road in Ocho Rios there’s a cool place on the roadside to play pool and have some drinks.  For the life of me I can’t remember the name of it but its directly across the street from a men’s drug rehab centre.  I played this random guy up there and yep….whooped his butt...

River Rafting & Tubing in Jamaica One activity I’ve ALWAYS wanted to do in Jamaica is a guided raft tour down a river. There are a few different places you can do it and I chose White River, in St Ann’s just outside of Ocho Rios. Bamboo raft and captain River rafting in Jamaica means a bamboo raft built for 2 and comes with its own “raft captain”.  Behind the captain as pictured above, there are two seats and he will give you a guided tour down the river while telling...
