Besides the fact that they’re cuter than all other kids put together, the one thing I will say about Jamaican children is BRING CANDY! If you plan on getting out into communities and interacting with Jamaican families, BRING CANDY!

I go prepared with those huge bags of lollipops you can buy for a couple bucks at Walmart. Other people I know bring packs of gum, basically anything that’s considered a treat. If you want to be popular with the little kids and...

I’ve met a few Jamaican celebrities in my travels even though I have no proof of meeting any of them LOL.
In 2003 (my first trip) I got to be up close and personal with Sean Paul in the VIP tent at one of his shows. The reason is because I won this trip specifically to see this show. Eventhough I’m not a big fan of his by any means, he was cool and friendly. We had a few laughs about snow in Canada and that was it. Didn’t take any pictures.
On my way to Jamaica for the Sean Paul...

Singing Jamaicans
If there’s one thing I know about Jamaicans, they are NOT shy! They’re all up for performing any time, whether it be dancing, singing or any other form of putting themselves out there. I love this about them. What I’ve also learned is that even though 99% of them can dance like there’s no tomorrow, they can’t all sing LOL!! Still doesn’t stop them from trying.
A couple of friends I stayed with in Negril are perfect examples of the fact that even...

Hey everyone! I’m fresh off the plane back from Jamaica again and I’m running off 3 hours of sleep in the last 24 hours. I’ve been anxious to post something after 2 weeks away, and ever since I met this character 1.5 weeks ago I knew he’d be my first post when I got home. Wait til you see the video at the end of this post LOL.
Lion Champagne is pretty much the most colorful personality I’ve met in Jamaica EVER! I was invited to his home, a board house in Mammee Bay...

Hang with locals
I called this post “part 1″ in case any of the other crazy things I’ve done pop into my mind. I’ll be sure to post them if they do. But for now I can think of one or two ways to meet Jamaican locals that stand out in my head. Being a white female doesn’t hurt but I’m not going to focus on that because it will perpetuate stereotypes.
I see a lot of people have searched “meet Jamaican locals” and stumbled on to my blog so I thought...

Solo Images of Jamaicans
This is the first installment of my favorite pictures I’ve taken of Jamaicans. These are the “solo” shots. Such beautiful subjects.

Fun with the JCF
I love Jamaican police and I don’t even know why?.none of them (except ONE) have ever gone out of their way to be friendly, say hi or even smile! It must be the stereotypical “man in uniform” thing. In my opinion and compared to North American police their uniforms are quite formal and I like it. Even their name, Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), is quite proper. I guess it?s the old British influence.
