Milford Falls – Ocho Rios

Sunday, January 31st, 2010 | Author: JC

It seems people like to take me to random cool places in the middle of the night. Not sure why these things don’t come up during the day, night time viewings make for crappier pictures.

The same night I got to see the RECORDING STUDIO in Ocho Rios, I also got to see this cute little natural wonder…Milford Falls. These little falls are located on Milford road quite far up the hill.  Any taxi driver would know where it is.

From what I saw (in the dark) the falls definitely weren’t Dunns River falls but it was so pleasant to see and hear.  I love waterfalls and this one is definitely NOT a tourist trap.  I loved it because it’s more private than one of those big attractions.

I noticed someone laid a claim on these falls and a “donation” is requested when you come to enjoy the scenery.  I don’t mind those kind of requests because it’s probably supporting a couple local people who thought of a way to make a small income.  It reminded me of the FIRE WATER in St Anns Bay….no actual fee to see it but a donation is requested.  I would much rather support this kind of attraction because it feeds into the community around it.

I apologize for the lame nighttime pictures but I actually think it’ll be worth going back during the day on my next trip in a couple weeks.  Stay tuned.

Driving Through Ocho Rios

Tuesday, December 08th, 2009 | Author: JC

I think I must be lazy lately with the ridiculous cold snap we’re having here at home. It’s been consistently in the minus 20’s and I’m sad. So I routinely go through my Jamaica pictures and videos to feel good. I found this one that I haven’t posted yet….a video of us driving through Ocho Rios.

This video is nothing special but I love it still. It just shows the life and vibes in the streets of Jamaica that go on EVERY DAY. There’s always music, dancing, fun and liveliness. This is heading west through the town centre. Enjoy!

Turtle Park – Ocho Rios

Monday, October 12th, 2009 | Author: JC

Turtle Park in Ocho Rios is one of the most beautiful and quiet places to hang out. It’s located right in the heart of Ocho Rios near plenty of shops and hotels, and is beautifully maintained.

nice turtle park

Because of its central location it’s a great meeting spot. It has plenty of benches to sit and relax, as well as wooden gazebos with seats inside if you’re looking for some shade. The trees in the park are huge and by experience I know they offer good protection from the rain….I’ve been caught more than once!

The best kept secret about Turtle Park is that if you bring your laptop here, there are several wireless internet connections you can get because of the businesses located in close proximity. Usually when I go I can pick up at least one or two unsecured connections from neighboring hotels.
