This is the coolest story. One of my long time blog readers whom I’d never spoken to before July, contacted me because she knew she’d be in Jamaica at the same time as me. We decided to make arrangements to link up and meet for the first time. Turns out her birthday was during our trip and it also turns out that I was already planning a party at a friend’s bar in Ocho Rios, and had a Canadian sound crew coming to Jamaica with me. Some very good friends of mine from Canada, known...

I discovered this villa by accident when my usual place in Ocho Rios was booked full and I needed an emergency place to stay. Coincidentally it is right around the corner and about 3 minutes from my usual place and since I always need new places to write about I’m fortunate to have discovered it. Front of Mahoe Villa As you know I’m pretty much a budget traveler and refuse to spend hotel prices, so when I was in a bind I called one of my best rasta friends in a panic and said “hook...

This is mostly a picture post. There was just WAAAY too much information on this botanical garden tour to repeat in a blog post. I will just say the tour was not expensive…I can’t remember if I paid $800 or $1200 JMD but either way, cheap. Here are some of the fabulous things we saw in there. The walking tour took about 1.5 hours with a guide, Vincent, who seems to know EVERYTHING about everything in this garden, and he had a great sense of humor too. The guide also informed us that...

Not sure if you all remember my trip up to FIRE WATER in St Ann’s Bay last year but I had the opportunity to go up there again during regular hours for the FULL treatment! It was fabulous! The best time to go up here is just before dusk.  You’ll get there in daylight to see everything it has to offer and you can stay as long as you want.  It’s nice to be in here as the sun goes down and the fire is the only thing illuminating the area, and reggae music fills the air. So pleasant. This...

It seems people like to take me to random cool places in the middle of the night. Not sure why these things don’t come up during the day, night time viewings make for crappier pictures. The same night I got to see the RECORDING STUDIO in Ocho Rios, I also got to see this cute little natural wonder…Milford Falls. These little falls are located on Milford road quite far up the hill.  Any taxi driver would know where it is. Milford Falls, Ocho Rios From what I saw (in the dark) the falls...

I think I must be lazy lately with the ridiculous cold snap we’re having here at home. It’s been consistently in the minus 20’s and I’m sad. So I routinely go through my Jamaica pictures and videos to feel good. I found this one that I haven’t posted yet….a video of us driving through Ocho Rios. This video is nothing special but I love it still. It just shows the life and vibes in the streets of Jamaica that go on EVERY DAY. There’s always music, dancing,...

Turtle Park in Ocho Rios is one of the most beautiful and quiet places to hang out. It’s located right in the heart of Ocho Rios near plenty of shops and hotels, and is beautifully maintained. Because of its central location it’s a great meeting spot. It has plenty of benches to sit and relax, as well as wooden gazebos with seats inside if you’re looking for some shade. The trees in the park are huge and by experience I know they offer good protection from the rain….I’ve...
