How to send a text message to Jamaica
This will probably be one of the shortest and most direct posts I will ever make. As a moderator on a Jamaican chat forum for the last 5 years, this question is in the top 5 most asked questions on the forum.
“How do I send a text message to Jamaica?”
#1 – Send it via your cell phone the way you would to any other person you know, using 1 and the area code of 876, then the number. Like so: 1876XXXXXXX. International text messaging fees apply if you live outside Jamaica.
OR
#2 – You can email a Digicel user straight to their phone for free. Simply open a new message in your email, and type the following in the “TO” field: XXXXXXX@digitextjm.com. Type your message in the body of the email and hit “send”.
Of course in both the above examples replace the X’s with the person’s phone number. And that’s pretty much it!

I tried texting from my PC but this was returned to me?

Hi Deb. Just wanted to let you know that’s happened to me before too. The email gets returned undeliverable. But when I asked the receiving party if they got it, they said yes. So if it gets returned to you, give them a call and find out if they did in fact receive it.

I really wanted to txt someone and get a message to them without calling. I used to do it yrs ago through a radio station and could not find it. This info came up through google and it helps.

I have no idea about “disposable” phones there. You can rent a phone, here’s a place to try: http://www.jamaicamyway.com/jamaica-cell-phone-rentals
Or you can buy the cheapest phone Digicel has for about $50 USD.

tried sendin it from email but i get that same error message about not being able to deliver it etc…an it really wasn’t delivered so idk whats up with that.
