Can You Buy Shrimp and Ganja at the Same Place?
I highly doubt anyone would EVER ask this question about Jamaica but you never know! And the answer is YES!
The greatest thing in Jamaica is that even if you go completely alone it only takes about 5 minutes to make a friend. This day I wasn’t alone but I sure made at least ten new friends and I didn’t even have to move. I sat in the same chair for 5 hours and had the greatest day!
A man who’s name I won’t mention because of the ganja pulled up a chair beside me this afternoon and proceeded to tell me he’d been fishing that morning and had his fresh catch in his car trunk. Then he asked if I wanted to see so of course, I crossed the street to his car with him. He opened the trunk and voila! There was a bag of fresh shrimp….still walking around!!

Okay so I don’t eat shrimp or seafood so I have no idea if these are big for shrimp. But in my mind they are huge!! The guy told me to pick them up and I was totally chicken!! I don’t like things with big tentacles that are still alive and moving. But anyways, I did it because I didn’t want to look like a fool. So are these big??

His plan was to go sell them to someone. But he had stopped at the bar where I was sitting to have a couple drinks first. So after I was finished looking at his shrimp he grabbed another black bag out his trunk and came back to sit where we were before. Well I guess selling shrimp isn’t his only specialty because he sure had enough ganja to go around as well! I don’t touch that neither but of course had to check out his stash!

So you can definitely buy your shrimp and ganja at the same place. Ganja can pretty much be a side order with anything in Jamaica…..supersized!!

Aside from a fried snapper every now and then, I don’t eat seafood either. Something about the texture and smell and oh those 3 times I broke out all over. Shrimp really grosses me out. Especially those bags of pepper shrimp everyone sells on the road.
