Jamaican Police Make Great Roadside Assistance
This is a short blog post to make you laugh while I sit in Toronto Pearson airport waiting for my flight home from this last trip. I must give my Jamaican friend credit because I’m not sure I’d be so willing to go through all this in the middle of the night for a friend! Okay I would but it would never be as funny as it is in Jamaica.
On a random night myself, two foreign friends and my police officer friend on the south coast decided to go out for a night of fun in Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth. The whole night was fabulous and I’ll tell about it in a later post but the REAL fun began on the drive back to Black River where I was staying. It was 2:30 am and the four of us were on the long road home when my police friend got a call that one of his friends who was out with us blew out two of his tires on the road home. Not one, but TWO tires. That posed a problem…..cars only carry one spare.
My police friend came up with the bright idea to call up the nearest police station in Lacovia to tell them we were on our way over to borrow a tire. After getting the tire we drove back into the night to find the stranded person on the roadside and pulled in behind him to jack up the car and change the tire. Not that I didn’t any of the work – I just sat in the car laughing at fact that not only did the dude blow TWO tires, but that we’re actually able to borrow tires from police stations.
So there you have it…..in the middle of nowhere near Bamboo Avenue in St Elizabeth. Good lesson in case you blow out your tires and don’t have enough spares on you. Makes me even more thankful for my fabulous Budget Rental cars in Jamaica.
