In ten trips to Jamaica this was honestly the first time I ever saw a vendor weigh their produce before they sell it. I guess I haven’t been shopping at the right places.

My friend took this picture since she was sitting in the front seat of our parked car in St Ann’s Bay. This guy was just on the roadside with his scale, selling his yam. The reason this picture is so entertaining for me is because of the scale. I think it’s awesome! I STILL say simplicity rules! Makes our supermarkets looks waaaay too complicated!

Selling Jamaican Yam

I love shopping at the markets in Jamaica because of the simplicity. People just buy what they need for the day, like one onion, one tomato, a couple potatoes, etc. They never stockpile like we do back home! However, shopping is a lot more convenient in Jamaica because someone is always selling something on the side of any road. There’s fresh produce everywhere!
