Jamaican Pirates & Jamaican Rum
If Jamaica is famous for anything it’s the Rum – Appleton Estate, which is my personal favorite and Wray & Nephew overproof which I can’t be within 10 feet of! Jamaica also has a rich history of piracy dating back to the 1600′s. It’s WELL worth googling and learning about, you might be surprised!

For me, the two (rum and pirates) go hand in hand. It all started back in February when my friend and I consumed too much rum one night and started talking like pirates. I don’t know why we did it or how it all started but now I’m always on the lookout for new pirate things in Jamaica! It’s not hard to find! Here’s a new tonic wine drink I just discovered last week.

The best part about buying rum in Jamaica is at a bar you can just buy it by the flask as shown below. This is how much rum you have to drink for the pirate thing to kick into to high gear! It makes people like me march around the streets singing about how “we nuh fraid a nobody!”

I’m not sure WHAT happened in the picture below but something tells me there was a hell of a party at Fishermans Beach where I captured this pile of fun!

Don’t worry, you’ll always know where to relieve yourself if you’re near a place like this washroom. The doors were clearly marked according to pirate law.

And once you’ve become a full fledged pirate you’ll find your very own flag to wave whenever you feel it’s necessary! This one is pretty much my favorite, and you can purchase them at the Pirates of Jamaica shop at Sangster airport in Montego Bay. You can get everything from pirate socks to bikinis there. ARRRRRRRRRR!

Old Pirate Wine … fermented from raisins, with molasses and dark sugar … you can see more on YouTube … the advert jingle and the making of the 2012 calendar! Give it a try if you can!
