Merle’s Fish JointOver the years I’ve been listening to one of my best friends rave about this place non-stop! We just happened to be in Jamaica together in February so she made it her mission to take me there before I left the island. We went on my last morning before heading to the airport.

The place is called Merle’s Fish Joint and it’s right at White River, near the end of the raft ride mentioned HERE. If I had known about it on rafting day it would have been the perfect finish to the rafting trip!
White River is right outside Ocho Rios, I think the river actually splits the parishes of St Ann and St Mary. And now that I’ve had the fried fish there I don’t think I’ll find it better anywhere else! It was TO DIE FOR!! It is served with the bammy wedges and the most atomic oinions ever! Soooo great!!

I’m so glad my girl brought me here, it was the best last meal in Jamaica! Usually I eat at Island Grill at the airport before leaving but not this time. I’m definitely going back next month for more fish.

Yup! This is, by far, my favorite place to eat in JA! One trip, I was in Ochi for 5 days — and I ate here 3 of the 5 days!!!! This place holds a lot of sentimental memories for me; but mostly, I just love the freakin’ FISH!
