Alright, back into my favorite town in Jamaica….Lucea. I’m still not sure why I’ve always found this little town so charming compared to the rest of the places I’ve been in Jamaica but I just love it!
Its taken me 6 years to actually make the stop in Lucea and look around, so I decided I better make it worthwhile and capture some of the important places in the town….the government buildings.

Lucea Municipal Building
As usual, I always seem to manage to find the police and fire stations. These firemen didn’t seem as welcoming as the Negril and Ocho Rios crews who invited us in for full tours. But they didn’t seem to mind us taking the pictures. For the life of me, I can’t figure out what’s wrong with those windows LOL.

I thought the official tax collector building was kinda funny. In my mind that should be a part of City Hall but it seems they need to make a bigger statement in the streets by having its own building.

And I’m just assuming this next building is as important as the rest. The roads and works department.

Its interesting to have seen all these “official” looking places because I sometimes forget that Jamaica’s a place like any other. They too, run regular business like any other country in the world would. I just get swept up in all the charm and beauty of Jamaica and don’t remember there’s daily life going on everywhere.

This is a great little city on the island of Jamaica. The beauty and charm grabs you as soon as you hit the entrance of the town.

AGREED!! My first 4 trips to JA, all I did was drive through it on my way to Negril. Never stopped once. I’d been meaning to stop for the last couple years but you know how easy it is to get sidetracked in Jamaica!

Lucea is my town but if you blink you’ll miss it cos it’s small. I’m white and English living in Lucea and it’s the nicest place EVER to live. Friendly people, great events (e.g.Across the Harbour), lots of free stage shows, a real clean town and a good range of supermarkets and places to eat. There’s no place like home!!!!

ALSO, did you know the Municipal Building was originally meant for ST LUCIA but was wrongly delivered to Lucea and whoever delivered it couldn’t be bothered to re-route it back to St Lucia.

I should have inserted The Clock on the municipal building which was supposed to be delivered to St Lucia. It’s in the shape of a german helmet! Sorry for missing out the two important words…!

That’s awesome David. I’d still like to get back to Lucea and spend more time there, maybe find a guest house and spend a couple nights.

Jana that was beautiful! You put that so I could see it in my head and imagine it. I miss Jamaica every minute I’m not there!
