There are two “hidden spots” in Mammee Bay (near Drax Hall, St. Ann). If you go next to either the Ocho Rios Riu or the Sandals in Mammee Bay there are some hidden beaches with lots of little shops with crafts, shirts, food, whatever you need.

First I will mention the place next to the the RIU. I wouldn’t say its hidden because if you stay at the RIU its right next to the hotel. There is a little bar there and every Wednesday they have a local band playing old reggae tunes. If there aren’t many tourists chilling at the bar you might get to hear the shop hustlers bust out a song or two.

The shops are full of your normal craft market items, but the crew is so fun and they will even be willing to carry you along to an Irie FM party (Ochi radio station) or a Deadyard in the village of Steertown. A “deadyard” is a party in celebration of someone’s death. Much more lively than our funerals and wakes back home.
One guy down at the beach will even offer to carry you out on his glass bottom boat for $50 USD per boatload of people, and will take you out snorkelling for another $50 per load.

Next to Sandals there is the local Fisherman beach. Here you can walk along a path that brings you to amazing view, and cheap fish to buy…(and some hustlers which are my family so support (LOL)). Every Sunday morning there’s a big fish cookout for breakfast.
If you want to do something a little more touristy, right across the street from the RIU there’s a guy who does horse back rides, but they bring you through Steertown to the amazing view, than back down to the private beach through the water.

If you’re unsure of how to find these places and things to do just ask around in the area. All the locals are more than happy to help and show you a great time!

AWWW! It looks so pretty. Thank you
