Rain in Jamaica

Before I even start this post there’s no way you’ll REALLY get a feeling of what rain in Jamaica is like. When it rains there…IT RAINS!! The absolute worst rain I ever experienced in Jamaica was April 2008 at about 4:00AM. It woke us up by setting off ALL the car alarms in the parking lot below my apartment. We opened the door and just sat under the protection of our veranda and watched in amazement.
Check out the drain pipe on the left in this picture. This is up at Shaw Park guest house one time.

Rain in Ocho Rios
A few years ago we got trapped in a rainstorm in Negril that was so bad we were stuck in the shelter of a little bar on the road for 3 hours! Thank God he had drinks, and his wife was good enough to make us something to eat. Not a single taxi was out on the road in the terrible rain. It was a riot though, I remember like it was yesterday and we looked like drowned rats by the time we reached a shelter.

Rain Storm in Negril
This is one of the worst rains I’ve seen in Jamaica although STILL the video doesn’t do it justice! We were up in Claremont this time and I couldn’t even get to my room in the guest house. I was trapped under an awning on the veranda making this video.
